Lo que nunca se ve...!

Buenas tardes;

Hoy quería hablaros del trabajo que no se ve del proceso de restauración. Me refiero a la limpieza de piezas cromadas que forman parte de las bicicletas. Lamentablemente estas piezas suelen llegar a nuestras manos en muy malas condiciones. Suelen ser piezas muy vistosas aunque con el óxido y el paso de los años suelen dejar mucho que desear.

Hay diferentes técnicas de limpieza, las más populares suelen ser la limpieza mediante gasoil o disolvente. Para retirar el óxido adherido una buena opción es utilizar estropajo de malla metálica muy fina para evitar rayar la superficie cromada. Cualquiera de estas opciones es económica y sencilla de realizar.
Otra opción es acudir a un sitio especializado donde limpiarán y cromarán todo lo que necesitéis. Una opción parecida y más casera es comprar un bote de spray efecto cromo.

Today I wanted to tell the unseen work of the restoration process. I mean cleaning chrome bike parts. Unfortunately these parts usually reach us in very poor condition. They are usually very colorful pieces although oxide and over the years often leave much to be desired.

There are different cleaning techniques, typically the most popular cleaning by oil or solvent. To remove rust adhered a good option is to use wool very fine mesh to avoid scratching the chrome surface. Either option is cheap and simple to perform.
Another option is to go to a specialized site where they'll chrome and clean all you need. A similar and more home option is to buy a can of spray chrome effect.

Construye tu bici!

Buenas tardes;

Por falta de tiempo hemos estado un tiempo sin actualizar el Blog y así poder adelantar un poco más los proyectos que actualmente están en proceso.

Hoy me gustaría hablaros de lanzarse a la piscina y construir vuestra propia bicicleta.
Hay diferentes formas de poder hacerlo:

- Modificar un Cuadro: La más sencilla, menos arriesgada pero también menos espectacular de las formas. Se trata de partir de un cuadro antiguo que tengamos y que nos pueda servir, sobre el cuál realizaremos las modificaciones que creamos oportunas, quitar de aquí, añadir allá... De esta forma cambiamos la estética pero con ciertas limitaciones marcadas por las partes que mantendremos.
Predominan las partes del cuadro antiguo.
Incluso podemos juntar piezas de diferentes cuadros.

- Fabricar un Cuadro: De esta forma podemos conseguir un resultado muy espectacular y exclusivo. Es recomendable primero hacer un boceto de la forma que queramos conseguir, después trasladar el diseño a escala real teniendo en cuenta las proporciones para poder ver las lineas generales del cuadro teniendo en cuenta la geometría aplicada a la bicicleta.
Para gente que no tenga demasiada infraestructura podemos usar partes más específicas de cuadros retirados, como la pipa de la dirección, la caja del eje de pedalier, etc. Estas son piezas que necesitan un diámetro interior específico, unas roscas determinadas y especificaciones más técnicas que nos pueden resultar un poco más complicadas de conseguir.
De esta forma predominan las partes fabricadas desde cero. Aún así debemos tener en cuenta los materiales (acero, aluminio...), el tipo de soldadura, medidas, etc.

For people who do not have too much infrastructure we can use specific parts of retired cadres, as the steering head, the bottom bracket housing, etc. These are pieces that need a specific bore, thread a certain technical specifications and we can be a little more complicated to get.

Thus dominated parts made from scratch. Yet we must consider the materials (steel, aluminum ...), type of welding, measurements, etc..
